Abstract
The study aimed to determine the influence of culture on ethical decision-making at Kuwait University.
The study found the following results:
1. The results of the (T) test indicated that there is a positive, statistically significant effect of organizational culture on ethical decision-making in Kuwaiti universities, represented by (the Kuwaiti University), which shows the role and influence of organizational culture in making ethical decisions within universities.
2. The results of the study indicated that the most influential form of organizational culture on the ethical decisions of the researched organizations is the bureaucratic organizational culture, followed by the supportive culture and finally the creative organizational culture.
3. The (P) test showed significant levels of less than 0.01, which indicates the significance of the model and its validity in predicting the values of the dependent variable (moral decisions).
4. The study confirmed that the value of the determination coefficient R2 with a value of 0.60, which means that the rate of interpretation of the three forms of organizational culture (bureaucratic, creative, and supportive culture) is 60% in the changes that occur in the dependent variable (criteria for moral decision-making).
5. The results of the analysis of variance of Kruskal Wallace indicated that there is a discrepancy between the opinions of the respondents on the effect of organizational culture on the standards of ethical decision-making in relation to some demographic variables that were generally studied and tested.
4/1. When the level of significance of the analysis of variance for Kruskal-Wallace is greater than 0.05, then there is a significant and statistically significant difference in the opinions of the respondents regarding their level of awareness of the potential effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable, and vice versa when the level of significance is less than 0.05.
4/2. There is a discrepancy in the opinions of the respondents according to their demographic characteristics under study (gender and job degree) regarding the organizational culture according to its types (bureaucratic, creative, and supportive) about its constituents and the degree of its influence on the ethical decision.
4/3. There is no discrepancy in the opinions of the respondents according to their demographic characteristics under study regarding (functional specialization) with regard to the organizational culture according to its types (bureaucratic, creative, and supportive) about its constituents and the degree of its influence on the ethical decision.
Among the most important recommendations:The importance of spreading an organizational culture that supports ethical decision-making within educational institutions, especially universities.
• Setting regulations and organizing rules that support the application of the elements of organizational culture that work to monitor and support ethical decisions in universities.
• Establishing rules for applying the standards of bureaucratic organizational culture that regulate ethical decision-making.
• Encouraging faculty members to take creative and creative decisions.
• The need to encourage and support faculty members to take decisions in accordance with ethical university work standards
• The necessity of standardizing decision-making standards by relying on ethical dimensions among all colleges of the university regardless of the nature of the major
