Abstract
1.2 Objectives
The aims of thesis can be summarized as follows:
• To review some of the previous experimental studied the behavior of strengthened flat slabs with opening .
• To study the effect of openings in flat slabs.
• To study the effect of using the Basalt fiber BFRP as advanced material for the strengthening of flat slabs .
• Comparison between the effect of the Basalt and other traditional steel in the strengthening techniques.
1.3 Methodology
The thesis study the following subjects:
• An intensive literature review of the previous studies in the subjects of behavior of flat slabs with opening and various strengthening materials.
• Experimental investigation by means of an intensive experimental program which consists of eleven tested specimens of flat slabs [one without opening and three without strengthening]. All specimens will be loaded up to failure. Their general behavior will be monitored through out the test. The experimental investigation will study the variables mentioned later.
• The results of all tested specimens have been recorded, and all required relationships were drawn .
• All results were analyzed for comparing between all tested slabs, then conclusions were indicated.
