Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate maternal and fetal outcomes of adolescent pregnant women at Mansoura University Hospital, Dakahlia , Egypt. Subjects who fulfilled the inclusion criteria for this study were 579 adolescent pregnant females who were presented within one year from June 2017 to May 2018, at Mansoura University Hospital, Dakahlia , Egypt. Among the cases included, there were 275 cases (47.5%) primigravida, 288 cases (49.7%) second gravida, 15 cases (2.6%) third gravida and 1 case only (0.2%) fourth gravida . Regarding the history of delivery, there were 281 cases (48.5%) nullipara, 284 cases (49.1%) primipara and 14 cases (2.4%) second para. Vaginal delivery ( NVD) was performed in 94 cases (16.2%), CS was the most prevalent mode of delivery in 412 cases (71.2%), surgical evacuation of abortion in 37 cases (6.4%) and ectopic pregnancy with surgical termination by laparotomy with salpingectomy was conducted in 18 cases (3.1%). The most common maternal outcomes were cephalopelvic disproportion in 60 cases (10.4%), PPROM in 50 cases (8.6%), abortion in 50 cases (8.6%), multifetal pregnancy in 40 cases (6.9%), preterm labor in 27 cases (4.7%), hyperemesis in 25 cases (4.3%) and severe anemia with hemoglobin level less than 7.0 g/dl in 17 cases (2.9%) . Fetal outcomes included are preterm fetus in 47 cases (8.1%), Abortion in 49 cases (8.5%), Congenital anomalies in 30 cases (5.2%), IUFD in 13 cases (2.2%) and IUGR in 2 cases (0.3%).
