Abstract

This study was conducted to study the effect of two types of fermented milk (kefir and rayeb) on biological, biochemical and anti-diabetic changes of male albino rats. Study the efficiency of different concentrations (1.5 and 3 ml/day) of kefir and rayeb milk and their mixture on diabetic levels changes of male albino rats. Also, some physiological characteristics such as BWG, FI and FER and internal organs weight) were measured. Biochemical analysis such as glucose level, kidney functions, liver functions, TC, TG, HDL-c, LDL-c, VLDL-c total protein, albumin and blood parameters (RBC, WBC, hemoglobin and platelet) in tested albino rats were also determined. Determination of chemical composition, amino acids, fatty acids, minerals content, alcohol levels, and some active compounds such as total phenols, total flavonoids, antioxidant activity, and identified phenolic compounds and of fermented milk using HPLC.
Forty eight adult male white albino rats, Sprague Dawley Strain, 10 weeks age, weighing (140±10g) were used in this experiment. All rats were fed on basal diet for 7 consecutive days. After this adaptation period, rats are divided into 8 groups, each group which consists of 6 rats as follows:
group (1): Rats was feed on basal diet as a control negative.
group (2): Rats was injected by alloxan a dose of 150 mg per kg of rat’s body weight and used as a positive control group.
group (3): A group infected diabetic is administrating on the kefir milk by 1.5ml / day.
group (4): A group infected diabetic is administrating on the kefir milk by 3 ml / day.
group (5): A group infected diabetic is administrating on the rayeb milk by 1.5ml / day.
group (6): A group infected diabetic is administrating on the rayeb milk by 3 ml / day.
group (7): A group infected diabetic is administrating on the mixture of fermented milk (1:1) kefir and rayeb milk by 1.5 ml / day.
group (8): A group infected diabetic is administrating on the mixture of fermented milk (1:1) kefir and rayeb milk by 3ml / day.
