Abstract The current study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a program based on connectivism theory in developing reading comprehension and writing performance skills of preparatory stage pupils in Egypt. The problem of the study can be stated in the weakness of reading comprehension and writing performance of the prep stage pupils. The researcher hypothesized that there is a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in pre and post measurement of both reading comprehension and writing performance skills in favor of the experimental group. The researcher developed the proposed program, a reading comprehension checklist, a writing checklist, two pre-posttests, reflection logs and a satisfaction questionnaire. Seventy second year prep-stage pupils participated in the study. A quasi-experimental design of two intact groups was used. Results showed a positive effect of the suggested program. It was recommended that using connectivism theory can enhance reading and writing skills.
