Abstract Reviewing the current literature, the active constituents and biological activities of the M. longifolia subsp. typhoides and M. longifolia subsp. schimperi aerial parts, are not enough to cover the expected medicinal value of the titled plant. So, in the present study we aimed to isolate and identify the bioactive compounds present in the aerial parts of M. longifolia subsp. typhoides and M. longifolia subsp. schimperi as well as to test their biological activities. Therefore, the present study includes: I: Phytochemical investigation of Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. typhoides (Briq.) and Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. schimperi (Briq.) aerial parts including: Chapter 1: Preliminary phytochemical screening. Chapter 2: Isolation and chemical analysis of the volatile oils. Chapter 3: Isolation and identification of the chemical constituents of Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. typhoides (Briq.) aerial parts. Chapter 4: Isolation and identification of the chemical constituents of Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. schimperi (Briq.) aerial parts. II: Biological studies on the extracts, oils and isolated compounds from Mentha. longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. typhoides and schimperi (Briq.) aerial parts. This biological study includes: 1 – Antimicrobial activity. 2 – Anti-quorum sensing activity. 3 – Burn wound healing activity. 4 – Antiallergic effect on ovalbumin induced allergic asthma. |
