Abstract

 The design of control systems has become very important in industry. Chemical process control is required for many purposes, such as product quality, economic considerations, safety, and environmental regulations. The increasing of population needs reliable, safe and consistent supply of water had made abundant manufacturing industries and water treatment plants to look for efficient desalination plants. There are two main sorts of desalination technologies: thermal desalination and membrane desalination . Multi effect distillation ( MED ) is one of the types of thermal desalination. MED system operates in a set of evaporator condenser vessels called effects and uses the concept of reducing the ambient pressure in the various effects. A novel algorithm to solve the steady state analysis problem of three effects feed forward multi effect Distilation (FF MED) for water desalination is investigated. A dynamic model is derived for MED. FF MED dynamic model is controlled using a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller that designed to improve its performance against the variation of the cold water temperature. Simulation results show the proposed design effectiveness and calculation has been presented using MATLAB®. from Simulation , it can be found that by using 1 kg of steam, the system can produce 2 kg of fresh water by maintaining the pressure of the third effect at its steady state value that equal to 13 kPa.
