Abstract Our present study was supposed to study the effect of Morus alba leaves & fruits on healthy and carbon tetrachloride induced hepatorenal damage in albino rats by evaluation of hematological parameters, biochemical parameters (some liver and renal function tests, lipid profile, serum malondialdehyde) and some antioxidants and histopathological examination of liver and kidney. Sixty, Albino rats (150 gm. average body weight) were divided into six groups. • group one:10 rats were kept as normal control. • group two:10 rats were given Morus albaL. leaves orally by stomach tube (400 mg/kg b.wt/day) from first day of experiment for 10 weeks. • group three:10 rats were given Morus albaL. fruits orally by stomach tube (200 mg/kg b.wt/day) from first day of experiment for 10 weeks. • group four:10 rats were injected intraperitoneally with 10% CCl4 1 ml/kg b.wt, twice a week from 6th week of experiment till end of 10th week. • group five:10 rats were given Morus alba L. leaves extract from first day of experiment for 10 weeks and CCl4 twice weekly from 6th week of experiment till end of 10th week of experiment at the same doses as groups 2 & 4. |
