Abstract

The most important challenge which face oil companies in recent times is the Increasing in the production cost of the barrel of oil. And one of the most important reasons for this increase in the cost is due to the problems associated with the production, which requires maintenance and treatment operations charged to overcome these problems. Among the most prominent of these problems are increasing water cut percentage with the oil production which causes corrosion in the production tubing and increases the production cost of barrel as a result of the cost of separation of oil from water. The problem of sand production which leads to the well stopped production frequently that may last for long periods. As for plugging of production perforations or a result of an erosion of production tubing or mechanical parts of the electrical submersible pumps (ESP).
In this thesis, we clarified the effect of the good studying of the petrophysical properties of the oil wells in Belayim fields which showed some problems during production, such as increasing the water cut percentage with oil production and the problem of sand production with oil. We studied the effect of petrophysical properties of wells in the determination of the optimum daily production rates of the wells. from the comparison between the actual daily production rate of the wells and the optimum rates of production. This has been applied on the wells (X1, X2, X3, and X4) which suffer from the problems mentioned above. The analysis of these problems has been carried out to know the causes, with the aid of the studies that have been done on the petrophysical properties of the wells. We discovered that the main reason behind these problems is the increase in the daily production rates for these wells than the optimum production rates. Resulting in increasing the water cut percentage with oil production and sand production problems. It has been reviewed the impact of the implementation of certain workover techniques such as acidizing and hydraulic fracturing in improving the petrophysical properties of wells especially permeability and porosity which have a direct impact in raising and improving the daily production rates for the wells. where full details have been studied, results and effects of the implementation of this technique on a group of Belayim on-shore and off-shore wells was reviewed. It was highlighted on capillary pressure and water saturation relationship. And showing importance of the analysis of this relationship for oil production formations to detect the best intervals for perforating which avoid water bearing formations as possible. This will lead in decreasing water cut percentage in oil production and thus decreasing production cost and well life.
