Abstract This thesis is entitled ”A Comparative Study between the Madrasa and the Khanqa in Mamluk Egypt (648-923/1250-1517)”. It aims at identify the meaning of the term madrasa and khanqa and follow their history from the beginning until the end of the Circassian Mamluks. The study sheds light on the function of both foundations and its evolution along Mamluk period (648-923/1250-1517). Additionally, the study deals with the different posts of both madrasas and khanqas whether those posts are: educational, religious general services or administrative posts. It examines the plan of both foundations. Therefore, this study is divided into an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion: it is reinforced with an appendix, bibliographies, illustrated figures and plates |
