Abstract Ninety six patients were enrolled in the study to compare the image quality between chest x-ray and low dose CT chest in early diagnosis of lung cancer in smoker patients. The age of studied subjects ranged from 50-78 years. Most of the subjects enrolled in the study (97.9 %) were males. Low dose CT of the chest is effective in detecting lesions less than 15 mm either these lesions were masses or nodules which cannot be detected by chest X-ray. The sensitivity of low dose CT in detection of pulmonary masses and nodules were 84.9%. In conclusion, low dose CT chest can be used in screening of pulmonary masses and nodules, to decrease the radiation risks burden over the patients who undergo standard dose CT chest. |
