Abstract

1. Oocytes could be retrieved from ovaries of slaughtered pregnant she-camels with at lower recovery rates compared with those of non-pregnant she-camels.
2. The higher level of CAT, TAC, GPX, MAD and SOD antioxidants in the case of pregnant she-camels may be an auto-defense tool of the follicle to protect the oocytes against harmful metabolites circulating in the blood during pregnancy. These results help in the future development of antioxidants supplements for IVM culture systems for oocytes retrieved from pregnant she-camels.
3. Identification of genes related to follicle activation growth, differentiation, survival and steroidogenesis in the oocytes and GCs in pregnant and non-pregnant she-camels may aid in the selection of competent oocytes since both IVM and IVF are dependent on the molecular memory of both oocytes and surrounding GCs.
4. Studying the changes in gene expression of on of BMP15, BCL2, IGF-1 and PTEN 0, 24, and 30 h of IVM could be taken as a guide for optimizing the formulation of IVM media and assist IVM outcome.
