Abstract Avian influenza represents one of the most important diseases of poultry industry because of severe economic losses in domestic poultry. At the last years, there were several outbreaks in the vaccinated poultry flocks in spite of application of intensive vaccination programs. Forty two chicken flocks suspected to be infected with AIV in different governorates were submitted for clinical, PM examination as well as virus isolation. Also RT-PCR and partial sequencing of HA&N genes were carried out. The examined birds showed high mortality ranged from (10-80%), respiratory signs as coughing, sneezing and nasal discharge. Some birds showed cyanosis of comb and wattles and hemorrhage of the shank. The post mortem finding of the examined birds revealed congestion of all organs, congestion of lungs, cast formation at the tracheal bifurcation and lower bronchi, hemorrhage of spleen and pancreas. Virus isolation on ECE revealed that out of 42 flocks 30 flocks showed positive results for isolation of hemagglutinating viruses. The inoculated embryos showed congestion, petechial hemorrhage and deaths. |
