Abstract

A regenerative vision is mainly about assuring that future generations inherit a thriving world, where people can realize their full potential as humans. With this in mind, regenerative cities offer their residents the opportunity to enhance their quality of life. Similarly, modern cities continuously offer their citizens the possibility of a better quality of life, as well as the chance to reach their full potential. According to scholars from various disciplines cities can ensure that the earth’s ecosystem stays healthy. Therefore, the aim of the current study is to provide concepts that go beyond the ambiguous notion of sustainability and towards regenerative urban development. In other words, the study aims to enhance the currently degraded condition of cities’ ecosystems where this contemporary concept provides a better comprehension of how modern cities function. At the same time, it focuses on the regenerative experience of new Egyptian cities through analysing Egyptian practices, and the major obstacles they face. Seeking to purpose a planning model for new regenerative urban communities in the Egyptian context. The results explain the possibilities that any new city has to shift from extraction to regeneration. Additionally, the concluding remarks show that regenerative new cities in Egypt are crucially needed due to the fact that they allow their citizens to consume within the limits of the local and global ecosystems.
