Abstract

Recently, there is a growing interest in reducing fossil fuel dependence in order to achieve sustainability in the energy sector of Egypt and more depending on renewable energy. Thus, it is very important to develop and implement new strategies including different renewable resources such as; hydro, solar, wind, etc..
More of exploited hydropower potential are available all over the world, and all project focused on hydropower the inner water of the main cannel and the outer water is less than 1.5 meter and remain in projected. With this work we devolved a new model of Hydro Matrix Wheel which can be used for all very low head difference project in Rivers and main channels environments in order to identify the most productive and economical solutions in Egypt.
In this dissertation we are looking at the issues like the climate change, technologyment of energy, energy policy, the power transmission line and the energy storage (battery), to discuss the role of generating hydroelectric energy in the present and in the future energy systems. A model predicting and producing electrical power from very low head difference has been developed, showing that the overall electrical energy produced from this model can reach about 5GW/h. This model we Developed is named hydro matrix this matrix uses traditional water wheel in matrix model. This technique allows us to reuse the outer water speed from the first stage to rotate the next wheel stage and so on.
Power generated from each wheel is depending on water velocity so we divided the cannel to small slots about one third from the main wide, the water velocity will be triple its velocity before we decreasing the channel. Hydro matrix model does not need to construct in dams because it will be inserted in the open cannel directly. We modeled this matrix using MATLAB SIMULINk and tested this model under different conditions.
The results show that the last model with control unit and battery connected is the best model because the load voltage remains constant under variable load. Egypt has the longest River Nile in the world thus it is having larger hydropower projects- and hydro storage water capacity (the largest lake in the world). These parameters could play the very important part as a stabilizing factor in the River Nile, the Nasser Lake, and main irrigation water channels to an increasing the percentage of renewable energy production. In the world wide the capacity of power system it is further we suggested that more than 40 TWh can be extracted from this hydropower projects.
