Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the most aggressive cancers worldwide. The main reason of HCC is hepatitis C & B. Il-6 is a cytokine which conc. elevated in case of inflamations and cancers also C-reactive protein levels increases in case of inflamations and trauma. X-ray repair cross-complementing group is a DNA repair protein contais 633 amino acid. provides a physical link between the incision and sealing steps of theBER process in which this repair defect may lead to cancers. Estimation of serum CRP and IL-6 shows that there was a highly significant increase in the level of serum CRP (P<0.0001) and significant in serum IL-6 in patients with (HCC) ( P < 0.0103) when compared to healthy control group and allelic and genotype frequency distribution of XRCC1 Arg194 Trp and Arg 399Gln and there allels all associated with a significantly elevation compared to control (P<0.0001). The study group included 123 patient with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)and128 healthy voulnteers collected rondomely from oncology center. portion of separated serum was used to estimate Inter-leukin 6 (IL-6) by ELISA tech. and (CRP) by CRP-LATEX. The second part of the whole blood was taken in EDTA coated for the extraction of DNA and genotyping then making PCR by ARMS technique. Finally, IL-6 and CRP biochemical markers, the XRCC1 Arg194Trp Arg/Trp , Trp/Trp variant genotypes and Trp allele, as well as XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg/Gln, Gln/Gln variant genotypes and Gln allele can be used as predicting and prognostic factors to avoid any complications lead to HCC in Egyptian population.
