Abstract

Burnout is defined as a psychological syndrome of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment that occurs among individuals who work with other people. The 3-burnout dimensions can be evaluated using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) that was translated and underwent validation in several languages. it consists of 22 items. Work related risk factors are summarized in 6 main domains including: workload, control, reward, community, fairness, and values.The primary health care facilities in Port Said city is expanding nowadays and the work force of all health care workers including nurses is expected to increase. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted during the year 2019-2020 and included 250 nurses working in primary health care facilities of Port Said city. Levels of burnout distribution according MBI, the most affected domain was depersonalization with 76% of the studied nurses have high depersonalization, followed by emotional fatigue (18% high burnout level) and the least affected was personal.
