Abstract

Recently, the using of stem cells transplantation in clinical purposes is markedly increased. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells and had the ability to transform into another type of cells, Regarding stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are admitted as modulators for immune system and have possible therapeutic profits. There are an increased data showed that there are many therapeutic effects of MSCs not only rely on their differentiation ability to regenerate the damaged tissue, but also depend on their potency to modulate and activate endogenous progenitor cells.
The current study aimed to disclose the potential therapeutic role of human breast milk mesenchymal stem cells transplantation in the treatment of DM type 1and overcomes associate myocardiopathy as a complication in streptozotacin (STZ) induced diabetic rat model.
Forty five adult male Sprague Dawely rats were assigned into 3 groups 15 rats of each G1; control group. G2; diabetic group receive single intra-peritoneal injection of STZ 65 mg/kg dissolved in 0.1 M citrate buffer saline. G3; diabetic group treated with two intra-peritoneal doses of breast milk mesenchymal stem cells 2×107 with 14 days interval two weeks post diabetic induction. After 12 week post diabetic induction rats were scarified and both blood and heart samples were collected.
