Abstract
The present work was carried out to demonstrate the effects of Fenugreek and Liquorice on male fertility of albino male rats. Seventy-five mature male rats weighting from (180-200 gm) were employed for this study.
They were randomly classified into 3 equal groups, each of 25. The first group was kept as control group given distilled water (DW). The second group was administered HAEF (2 gm/kg B.w/day) orally for 4 weeks. The third group was administered HAEL (2 gm/kg B.w/day, orally) for 4 weeks.
At the end of the study (4 weeks) 5 rats of each group on 1st day post end of experiment and weekly on first, 2nd, 3rd and 4th week after end of treatment after scarification in centrifuge tubes for serum preparation for estimation of serum FSH, LH, prolactin, total and free testosterone.
After collection of blood, rats were dissected out and their testicles, seminal vesicles and prostate glands were taken and weighted for calculating sex organ index weight. Then they were put in jars containing 10% formol saline solution to be used for histopathological study.
Collection of semen samples:
After separation of epididymis from testis, it was transferred into petri dish and then evacuated into another petri dish containing normal saline.
