Abstract Environmental education has a fundamental role in preventing and solving environmental problems, as it contributes to spreading awareness, acquiring skills, and establishing positive trends in protecting the environment. An intervention study was conducted on students of the College of Technology of Alexandria, which includes three institutes: The Industrial Technical Institute, The Commercial Technical Institute, and The Technical Institute for Tourism and Hotels. The study was conducted from November 2016 to May 2018. Two separate questionnaires were predesigned and self-structured. The first questionnaire was concerned with occupational safety and health. The second questionnaire was concerned with environmental concepts and problems, their causes and methods of management. Pre- and post- intervention self-structured questionnaires were used for data collection. The sample constituted 400 students from the various departments of the three institutes. The training and teaching of the academic curriculum resulted in enhancing awareness of the concepts of environment, safety and occupational health among students of the Faculty of Technology in Alexandria after intervention. The results of the current study clarified the level of environmental awareness among the students of the College of Technology did not rise to the required level indicating lack of environmental information. With regard to environmental awareness, the results were similar between the three institutes after the intervention, where the industrial institute recorded the highest scores. Regarding occupational safety, scoring results differed between the three institutes after the intervention, where the tourism institute recorded the highest scores.
