Abstract
This thesis consists of a prequel and two chapters. The prequel is an introduction of mass spectrometry. Chapter One is divided into three sections. The first section is and introduction of metronidazole and the second is a literature review of metronidazole. The third section describes a direct nano-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry for quantification and identification of metronidazole in its dosage form and human urine. Chapter Two is divided into three sections. The first section is an introduction that briefly describes the components of a commercially available multivitamin. The second section is a literature review of these said components. The third section describes a targeted and non-targeted analysis of multivitamins in a dietary supplement and human urine using dilute-and-shoot-based direct nanoelectrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry.
