Abstract This chapter presents the definition of catalysts, its history, development and application during past years. Also it include the types of catalysis and its advantages and disadvantages. This chapter describe some applications of nanoparticles in catalysis. Furthermore, it include catalytic process of reduction nitroaromatic compounds into amino-compounds and their toxicity. This chapter involves adsorption process and its importance in removal aminocompounds as a products from catalytic reduction of nitropollutants.This chapter describes the employed materials and solutions in this thesis as well as different characterization techniques such as (FT-IR) (Fourier transform infrared), (SEM) (scanning electron microscope), (HR-TEM) (high resolution transmission electron microscope), (TGA) ( thermal gravimetric analysis), (XRD) (X-ray diffraction analysis), (BET) (surface area analysis. Also, it discusses the general procedures for coating nanopolyaniline by zirconium silicate to give nanopolyaniline-zirconium silicate loaded in zero valent copper nanoparticles and graphene oxide, respectively and partially oxidized graphite. There are various experimental factors affecting on catalytic reduction are also illustrated such as temperature and initial pH solution. Furthermore, sorption factors was studied in removal nitro and aminocompounds such as contact time, pH, initial concentration, sorbent dosage and different interfering ions. In addition this chapter illustrates the application of modified nanosorbents for adsorptive removal of some organic pollutants from various water samples collected from tap water, sea water and waste water. |
