Abstract Abstract : The purpose of this study was to find out if a program based on drama teaching techniques could help secondary stage students improve their creative writing skills and motivation. First year of secondary school students lack the ability to write creatively and need to increase their motivation to do so. Fifty first-year secondary school students from El-Salam Language School in Mansoura were divided into two groups: experimental and control. The following instruments were used in the study : a creative writing skills checklist, a pre-post creative writing skills test, a rubric to correct it, and an EFL creative writing motivation scale. A program based on drama teaching techniques was used to teach the experimental group. The control group received regular instruction. Findings indicated that the experimental group creative writing skills and motivation improved as a result of employing the program. The study recommended drama teaching techniques be used at different stages and for other language skills. |
