Abstract

Plasma is discovered and named as the fourth state of matter for the
first time by Crookes in 1879. Later in 1923, Langmuir used the name
\plasma”for explaining the inner region of ionized gas which is produced in an electric discharge tube. He found that plasma is an ionized neutral gas which consists of an equal amount of both positive
ions and negative electrons approximately. It has 99% of the matter
in the visible universe is in the plasma state, This estimate may not
be very accurate, but it is certainly a reasonable one in view of the
fact that stellar interiors and atmospheres, gaseous nebulae, and much
of the interstellar hydrogen are plasmas
