Abstract

Purpose: study the prevalence of pre-eclampsia without proteinuria among pregnant women who attend outpatient clinic (OPC) and admitted to Obstetrics and Gynecology department in Mansoura University Hospitals Materials and methods Observational cross-sectional study involving pregnant women at 20week gestation or more, attending outpatient clinic (OPC) or admitted to Obstetrics and Gynecology Dept., Mansoura University Hospitals over a period of 12 months Results: The prevalence of proteinuric PE (12.3%) was significantly higher compared with non-proteinuric PE (6.1%). liver involvement was significantly more frequent in proteinuric PE vs uteroplacental dysfunction was more frequent in non-proteinuric• Primigravity was higher in the proteinuric PE (60.9%) compared with non-proteinuric (40%). Conclusions The findings in our study imply that the prevalence of nonproteinuric preeclampsia (6.1%) is about half of proteinuric (12.3%) which has led to: Broadening the scope of diagnosis of preeclampsia to be nonproteinuric & proteinuric instead of being proteinuric only. More awareness of cases with hypertension and end organs dysfunction to be diagnosed as (Non proteinuric PE) to decrease maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality.
