Abstract
Seborrhea is a physiologic condition of increased sebum production on the skin rather than a disease. Heredity seems to play an important role in its etiology. Sebum is continuously produced by the sebaceous glands and is secreted to the skin surface through the follicular pores. Sebum excretion reaches a peak at about the age of 16 to 20 years; thereafter the level remains constant until a gradual decrease begins around the age of 40 years.
