Abstract

It is well known that current approaches to all types of heart disease fail to preserve cardiac risk factors. Today, a variety of therapeutic agents are available with a range of actions to fight hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular diseases. These therapies are limited by their limited effects, pharmacokinetic properties, and accompanying side effects. So, the aim of this study is to verify whether Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) can be used to explore the potential defense and therapeutic role of Coenzyme Q10 on the heart. As a result, certain factors such as average body weight, lipid profile, cardiac enzymes, and markers of oxidative stress were examined along with histopathological changes of the heart in male rats. The study was conducted on 30 male rats weighing 150 ± 10 g and has been classified into five groups. The beneficial consequences of Coenzyme Q10 on the biochemical and histological changes induced by isoproterenol (ISO) injection are observed in the Significant decrease in total body weight. Q10 May contribute to improving total lipids profile, e.g.: cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL and LDL in rat serum. Significant improvement of liver enzymes activity and improve albumin and total proteins. Reducing the level of oxidative stress markers in the heart and liver; also boosting the antioxidant system. The results of this study concluded that it was observed that administering the Coenzyme Q10 showed preventive results against heart diseases, and liver caused by injection with isoproterenol. The protective impact of Coenzyme Q10 might be attributed to antioxidants as it reduced oxidative stress and improved the antioxidant status as well as inflammatory markers. This led to improvement in the various investigated parameters; and it has a greater effect on preventing heart disease than when given concomitantly with isoproterenol (Q10 before ISO).
