Abstract This study was carried out during the two successive seasons 2017 and 2018 on seven years old Anna apple trees (Malus domestica, Borkh) budded on Baladi apple rootstock. Trees were grown in region Wadi El Natron (El- Behaira Governorate), Egypt. Trees were spaced at 2×3 m apart and grown in a sandy soil under drip irrigation system. All selected trees were healthy and nearly uniform in growth vigour and fruiting. All trees had received regularly the same common cultural practices already given to the orchard. selected trees were sprayed four weeks after fruit set. The chemicals used in the experiment are Amcotone, Sitofex and Retain. Amcotone is a commercial product consists of 0.45% Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) + 1.25% Naphthalene acetamide (NAD), produced by (Amvac Chemical CorporationCalifornia,USA), used in this study as an auxin source. Sitofex is a commercial product consists of 1 g/l Forchlorfenuron (CPPU), produced by (Nufarm - Germany). Retain is a commercial product consists of 15% Aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG), <produced by (Valent BioSciences Corp., Libertyville, Ill.). Two concentration of each compound was applied: Amcotone 600mg/l and 1200mg/l, Sitofex 5ml/l and 10ml/l, and Retain 833.3mg/l and 1666.6mg/l. Foliar sprays were applied using a hand pressure sprayer. The treatments were distributed in experimental location (completely randomized block design) as follows: 1. Control (water) 2. Amcotone 600mg/l 3. Amcotone 1200mg/l 4. Sitofex 5ml/l 5. Sitofex 10ml/l 6. Retain 833.3mg/l 7. Retain 1666.6mg/l 8. Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l 9. Amcotone 600mg/l + Retain 833.3mg/l 10. Sitofex 5ml/l + Retain 833.3mg/l 11. Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l + Retain 833.3mg/lThe results of the present study are summarized as follows: 1. Minimum fruit DROP percentage was recorded by Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l + Retain 833.3mg/l (46.04%) in the first season and Sitofex 5ml/l (51.98) in the second season, followed by Sitofex 5ml/l + Retain 833.3mg/l (48.34%) in the first season and Amcotone 600mg/l in the second season (50.01), respectively, as compared with the control treatment which recorded the maximum fruit DROP (67.26 and 71.44 %), during both seasons under this study. 2. Fruit retention percentage was significantly increased by treatment Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l, followed by Retain 1666.6mg/l in the first season, while Sitofex 5ml/l gave the maximum fruit retention percentage, followed by Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l, as compared with other treatments and control during 2018 season. 3. The treatment of Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l recorded the maximum number of fruits/tree, followed by Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l + Retain 833.3mg/l during the first season, whereas, Sitofex 5ml/l treatment gave the highest mean values of number of fruit/tree, followed by Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l during the second season, as compared with other treatments and control. 4. The maximum yield/tree (kg) was recorded by the treatment of Sitofex 5ml/l, followed by Amcotone 600mg/l + Sitofex 5ml/l + Retain 833.3mg/l as compared with other treatments and control, during 2017 and 2018 seasons, respectively. |
