Abstract

This thesis proposes a new theory for building envelop design at the initial design phase based on Generative Design (GD)with aid of merging different technique “BIM-Parametric-Origami (BimPo)” integration framework to directly generate optimized alternatives of envelop for enhancing Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ). BimPO script will provide more chance for more form generation. The results will proved BimPO ability to acheve numerous Origamic Solar Devices (OSD) alternatives efficiently. Moreover, a selection criteria will proposed, that could indicate optimal OSD configurations which balance with IEQ factors. The new process includes generative design and such tools as Autodesk Revit, Dynamo and Refinery are used. As a case, a mass model of a prototype building is created by researcher which is supposed to be located at Alexandria in Egypt is created. By researching, analyzing and developing the prototype, it can be concluded that the assessment of the IEQ factors to design the building envelop in the initial design phase can be done with the help of generative design. By means of generative design, hundreds of design options are generated and optimized based on the required IEQ factors which facilitate the designers to develop the design in a more effective way than the traditional design method.
