Abstract

The viewing experience has changed dramatically in recent years, with the rise of new viewing behaviors such as binge-watching and binge-racing made possible by the new media era. This study looks at how binge-watching affects several aspects of life (physical and psychological), correlating it to depression, loneliness, and psychological well-being. A questionnaire was designed to glean data from young Egyptian adults (18-35). Reaching out that the Netflix platform is chosen mainly because of its content diversity, computers and smartphones are the most regularly utilized devices when binging. Aside from that, most viewers watch alone and plan before entering the binge cycle. The findings revealed that Binge-watching is more prevalent among young people. Additionally, there was a partial positive association between binge-watching and depression and loneliness and a partial negative relationship between binge-watching and psychological well-being. Furthermore, there is a partial positive relationship between binge-watching and television viewing motivation
