Abstract Using conventional water-based fracturing fluids for stimulating low-permeability gas reservoirs causes formation damage due to water blockage which leads to productivity loss. The aim of this study is to present and evaluate a novel fracturing fluid for stimulating low permeability gas reservoirs using Methanol-treated fracturing fluids (MFF). This study will focus on the mechanism of water blockage during fracturing low permeability gas reservoirs then analyze thirty-four (34) gas wells that were treated using conventional water-based fluids in addition to twenty-five (25) gas wells that were stimulated using Methanol-treated fracturing fluids (MFF), analysis of post fracturing gas rates proved the effectiveness of adding Methanol to fracturing fluids in order to minimize water blockage and increase gas production significantly comparing to gas wells treated via conventional water-based fluids. |
