Abstract

Central serous Chorioretinopathy (CSC) is characterized by serous subretinal fluid leakage and accumulation with subsequent serous retinal detachment due to hyperpermeability of the choroidal vessels and failure of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) in resorbing the excessive fluid accumulation leading to complaints such as vision loss, metamorphopsia and changes in color and contrast sensitivity [1]. Two forms of CSC have been described in literature, of which the overlap is currently unclear; acute CSC, which is characterized by serous retinal detachment with limited focal or multifocal RPE alterations that usually recovers within few months without the need of treatment and, non-resolving CSC which presents with more extensive abnormalities in the macular area, without spontaneous recovery [2]. Observation without treatment is generally recommended as initial management for cases with acute central serous chorioretinopathy [2.
