Abstract The present study aimed at investigating the effect of using memes via the holistic approach on developing EFL speaking skills of prep stage students. The study adopted the quasi-experimental design. The participants of the study were fifty second year students in the prep stage ; twenty five students represented the control group which received the traditional method, and the other twenty five students represented the experimental group which received the treatment, i.e., using memes via the holistic approach. The instruments of the study, designed by the researcher, were : a questionnaire, pre-posttest and a rubric for scoring the speaking skills test. Results of the statistical analysis showed that there was a significant development in students’ EFL speaking skills. Consequently, using memes via the holistic approach proved to be effective in developing the prep stage students’ EFL speaking skills. |
