Abstract Background: In recent decades, the number of international students studying in higher education has risen significantly. International students often face a series of transitional difficulties. As a result, it is critical to conduct an orientation program to support and promote the transition process for international students. Aim: The current study assessed the impact of an orientation program on the international nursing students{u2019} adjustment to their academic life. Design: A quasi-experimental (one group pretest-posttest) design was utilized to achieve the aim of the present study. Setting: This study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing - Cairo University, which located on the campus of Cairo University Hospitals.Sample:from the total (no. 131) a convenience sample of (70) freshman undergraduate international nursing students from 18 countries was recruited at the first academic level, (2019-2020)were included.Tools: Data were collected by using international student learning needs assessment questionnaire, international nursing student{u2019}s knowledge test, Student{u2019}s adjustment with college questionnaire, and Orientation program satisfaction questionnaire. Results:These findings revealed an improvement in the knowledge mean scores of international nursing students in the immediate and follow-up post intervention scores when compared to pre-intervention mean scores. As well, statistically significant differences were found between the international nursing students{u2019} adjustment throughout pre, immediate post and follow up, as they had highest mean scores immediately post program and after three months relative to program implementation |
