Abstract

purpose of this study: to compare between effect of aerobic training and myofascial release on claudication indices among subjects with peripheral arterial insufficiency. Methods and material: Forty patients of both sexes (25males and 15females), their ages ranged between 45-55 years, BMI (25-29.9 kg/m2) and they had ABI in between 0.90-0.50 and they consented to participate in the study, they were selected randomly from vascular outpatient clinic of Aboukir Hospital in Alex and outpatient clinic of Pharos University, Alex. And they governate assigned into two groups of equal numbers.group A included twenty patients (13 males and 7 females) trained by aerobic training program (march walking treadmill exercise) combined with traditional Burger exercises for 45minutes, 3 times per week for 8 weeks in addition to their medical treatment. group B: included twenty patients (12 males and 8 females) who received myofascial release technique combine with traditional Burger exercises for 45 minutes, 3 times per week for 8weeks in addition to their medical treatment. Ankle brachial index (ABI),Claudication onset time (COT), Maximum claudication time (MCT), Maximum claudication distance (MCD), peak systolic velocity (PSV), walking impairment questionnaire (WIQ) were used for assessment pre and post treatment for both groups Results: this study showed that there was a statistically significant change in claudication indices. Ankle brachial index (ABI), Claudication onset time (COT), Maximum claudication time (MCT), Maximum claudication distance (MCD), peak systolic velocity (PSV), walking impairment questionnaire (WIQ) in both groups at the end of the study but improvement was more obvious in the aerobic training group, the percent of improvement were 17.4%{u2191}{u2191}for (ABI), 83%{u2191}{u2191}for (COT), 97.1%{u2191}{u2191} for (MCT), 172%{u2191}{u2191}for (MCD), 33.1%{u2191}{u2191}for (PSV), 93.6%{u2191}{u2191}for (WIQ). While in myofascial release group results were 8.5{u2191} {u2191}%for (ABI),59.4%{u2191}{u2191} for (COT),67{u2191}{u2191}% for (MCT),123{u2191}{u2191}%for (MCD), 18.7{u2191}{u2191}%for (PSV),70.1{u2191}{u2191}% for (WIQ)
