Abstract

Venous leg ulcers are a chronic illness characterized by healing and recurrence cycles that can last anywhere from weeks to years. Purpose: The goal of this study was to see how Helium Neon and Gallium Arsenide affected the healing of a venous ulcer by measuring wound surface area and colony count. Methods: - A total of sixty patients with leg venous ulcers (53 men and 7 women) were randomly assigned to one of three groups. In addition to routine ulcer care, group (A) received the Helium Neon laser. In addition to routine ulcer therapy, group (B) received a Gallium Arsenide laser. Only standard ulcer care was given to Group(C) (Control group). Results: Using Low Level Laser Therapy (Helium Neon and Gallium Arsenide) was found to be superior to conservative ulcer management in terms of reducing ulcer surface area and quantity of bacteria. Conclusion: In the healing of venous ulcers, there were no significant differences between He-Ne 632 and Ga-As 808-904 in terms of ulcer surface area and colony count
