Abstract Summary Intermittent Exotropia is a periodic divergent misalignment that deteriorates to constant XT. Treatment options of IXT include non-surgical and surgical treatment. Non-surgical treatment includes correction of refractive errors, part-time monocular occlusion, over minus lens, and orthoptic treatment. Non-surgical treatment is usually not helpful. Surgical management should be recommended in cases of large angle or poor control. The current study was done to compare BLR and unilateral R&R in the management of IXT. When studying both groups we found that in the R& R group, there were higher initial postoperative overcorrection rates. In the BLR group the rate of surgical success was higher than the R&R group in the first week post-operative, but the final surgical outcome at 6 months was 100% in both groups. |
