Abstract

This research intends to explore human-environment; such a relationship is one of the essential research methods recently, which is evidenced by the follow-up of literature published locally and globally. Especially, the aesthetic response of people to certain intangible qualities of their street environment, which is a significant research area for urban design, as such studies provide for a solid ground for urban design criteria. The main research objective is to deduce a benchmark will help the designers in future decisions to design aesthetic qualified urban streets by investigating the users{u2019} preference that has a more significant impact on livable streets. The research aims to present the livability of the urban street concerning the design dimensions and intangible qualities and their role in determining the users{u2019} preferences. For verifying this, international examples were analysed. Then, a photo-based questionnaire answered by total of 89 respondents was used to elicits a response to scenes of different urban streets Finally, two case studies were evaluated according to the proposed audit sheet
