Abstract

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women around the world, making it a significant public health problem. Breast cancer is cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts. Is made of unusual cells that grow out of control. Early detection of breast cancer is important as it is associated with an increased number of available treatment options, increased survival, and improved quality of life. initiative for early detection and screening of breast cancer was developed worldwide as an excellent pathway for reducing mortality and morbidity among women with breast cancer.
The study aimed to investigate Women’s perceptions regarding the Ministry of Health initiatives plan for early detection of breast cancer among women in fayoum city.
The study design was a descriptive study design that used to be conducted at the selected faculties at fayoum University; Faculty of nursing, Faculty of social work, Faculty of Dar al ullom, and Faculty of science.
Data collected started from the beginning of July 2021 to the end of December 2021. The researcher attended the pre-mentioned study setting 3 days per week from 9a.m to 4p.m to collect data.
The purposive sample was utilized, the sample was 300 female employees.
Tools of Data Collection:- Two tools of data collection were used:-
Tools I: (A) Structured interview questionnaire); it consisted of four parts:-
The first part:
It consisted of questions related to the studied Woman’s general characteristics.
The second part:-
Knowledge of women regarding breast cancer
The third part:-
Woman’s knowledge regarding the ministry of health initiatives plan for early detection of breast cancer
The fourth part:-
Barriers that prevent women to attend the initial plan of early detection and screening of breast cancer.
Tool II:- Attitude scale
Women’s attitude regarding the ministry of health initiatives plan for early detection of breast cancer.
Results:
 The results revealed that 51.3% of the studied sample have incorrect knowledge regarding initiatives for early detection of breast cancer.
 The results illustrated that 96% and 86.7% of the studied sample reported that the fear of infection with corona and the lack of a clean toilet is the barrier that prevents them to attend the initiative of early detection and screening of breast cancer.
 The results showed that 65.3% of the studied sample have a negative attitude regarding the Egyptian ministry of health’s national initiatives for early detection of breast cancer.
 The results indicated that there is a highly significant positive correlation between total correct knowledge regarding breast cancer and the total correct knowledge regarding initiatives for early detection of breast cancer among the studied sample at (P= < 0.01).
 The results indicated that there is a significant positive correlation between total correct knowledge regarding breast cancer and total positive attitude regarding initiatives for early detection of breast cancer among the studied sample at (P= < 0.05).
