Abstract The present study was conducted to compare the retention between two types of materials PEEK and Bre {u2013}Flex second edition in class III modification I maxillary RPD By using digital force meter device. 34 patients were selected from the out-patient clinic of Prosthodontic department, Faculty of oral and dental medicine, Cairo University. All patients were have Kennedy class III modification I upper partially edentulous ridges with fully dentate lower arch. 34 Frameworks (occlusal rests, Major and Minor connectors ,combined denture base) were constructed from metal Then the study divided into two equal groups the first group injected with PEEK(clasps, combined denture base),another second group injected with Bre- Flex second edition(clasps, combined denture base) Then after insertion of RPDs , Retention measured Immediately in the first week , third week and Fourth week using Digital force-gauge device which was attached to the ready-made metallic hook to apply force while the patient{u2019}s head was in upright position where the maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the floor. Results of this study showed significant difference in retention values between the removable partial denture made from PEEK (polyether ether ketone) and those made from Bre-Flex second edition , where PEEK RPD showed higher retention than Bre-Flex RPD |
