Abstract In this study we used double emulsion technique to prepare spherical shaped polymeric nanocapsules composed of amoxicillin trihydrate as the core substance and a biodegradabe biocompatible poly ({uF065}-caprolactone) as the shell material. The hydrodynamic diameter of the prepared nanocapsules was 287 ± 8 nm with positive zeta potential. In vitro release study indicated that the polymeric nanocapsules showed the least release at pH 1.2 simulating the gastric fluid while increasing release at pH 7.0 where the H. pylori resides. The in vitro antibacterial assay showed better efficiency for Amoxicillin nanocapsules than the free drug. Cytotoxicity studies showed least cytotoxicity for the polymeric nanocapsules in comparison to the amoxicillin |
