Abstract

The present study was conducted at the Agricultural Experiment Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt. during 2017- 2019 under greenhouse conditions. Five wild and domestic tomato accessions were selected for this study based on their characters, especially fruit quality. Crosses were made between cv. Ace 55 VF (as female parent) and four accessions S. pimpinellifolium ,S. lycopersicum var. cerasiforme,S. cheesmaniae and S. lycopersicum (Jubilee), (as males). Also, crosses were made, in both directions, among the three wild accessions and were evaluated, in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Studied characters were average fruit weight (AFW), number of locules (NL), fruit flesh thickness (FFT), pH, total soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA), ascorbic acid (AA) content, lycopene content (LC) and Ý-carotene content . Results indicated complete dominance for low NL and low TA; partial dominance for low AFW, low FFT, low pH and low TSS content, and absence of dominance for AA content in the cross Ace 55 VF {u00D7} S. pimpinellifolium MLP 23102; complete dominance for low NL, high pH and partial dominance for low AFW, low FFT, low TSS content, low TA in the cross Ace 55 VF {u00D7} S. lycopersicum var. cerasiforme PI 647522; complete dominance for low FFT, low NL, low pH, low TA, high AA content, partial dominance for high TSS, low AFW, low Ý-carotene content and over dominance for high LC in the cross Ace 55 VF {u00D7}S. cheesmaniae LA 524; over dominance for high LC and low Ý-carotene content in the cross Ace 55 VF {u00D7}S. lycopersicum (Jubilee); complete dominance for high LC, partial dominance for high TSS, low Ý-carotene content and over dominance for high TA in the cross S
