Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia is a major obstetric problem and a significantcause of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. We aim to determinematernal and perinatal outcomes in severe pre eclamptic patients in relation toclinical ,laboratory, sonographic findings. Methods:The study was designed as cohort study in the Obstetrics and Gynecology hospital, Kasr El Aini between July 2019 to January 2020 two hundred patients with severe preeclampsia , Primary outcome was the correlation between ascites and maternal and neonatal outcomes as development of eclampsia, renal failure, ICU admission, Secondary outcome was correlation between uterine artery Doppler indices and maternal and neonatal outcomes correlation between clinical and laboratory criteria of severity and maternal and neonatal outcome. Results: We found a significant relation between ascites and HELLP (p value =0.034) and There was a statistically significant correlation between Ascites and developing Acute renal failure ,Eclampsia ,ICU admission,Acute pulmonary edema , Accidental hemorrhage and postpartum hemorrhage, but there was no correlation between ascites and neonatal outcome .We found a significant relation between increasing uterine artery resistance index ,acute renal failure and eclampsia and insignificant to other complication.asignificant relation between headache and blurring of vision with development of eclampsia and ICU admission. There was a statistically significant correlation between elevated ALT, low platelet count and developing HELLP Syndrome, Acute renal failure, ICU admission ,Acute pulmonary edema ,Accidental hemorrage and postpartum hemorrage, and significant correlation between elevated creatinine and developing acute renal failure and HELLP syndrome
