Abstract

Paul- Majumder (2003) conducted a study on the physical and mental health
status of textile workers and how such problems affect labor productivity
together with the competitiveness of the textile industry in the world market and
the working life of the workers particularly the female workers. It showed also
that various illnesses and diseases were widespread among the textile workers.
Occupational health hazard is concerned with health hazard in relation to
work environment. The science of occupational health hazards covers a wide
field, like work physiology, occupational hygiene, occupational psychology,
occupational toxicology etc. (Harrington and Gill, 1990).
The role of the nurse is very important in any occupation. Davis (1985)
mentioned that the main roles of occupational nurse are to provide a competent
nursing care, treatment, follow up, referral and first-aid services, maintain and
update as necessary accurate recording and reporting of facts including
evaluation of the total health care for the workers. Moreover, the nurse is
responsible for teaching and motivating workers about good health and safety
practices. The physician and the nurse working in the occupational health
department can be grouped to protect and help workers to be treated and also
help them adapt to their jobs.
The aim of the present study was to assess the occupational health hazards
among the workers in textile factory at Ismailia city.
A descriptive design carried out for assessing the occupational health hazards
among the workers in the textile factory at Ismailia city.
The sample consisted of (864) workers (males and females) who were chosen
by simple random technique from the different departments of production line.
