Abstract

ABSTRACT
The objective of the current study was to define the most appropriate combination treatment of compost x P x Si and their interaction for a successful wheat cultivation on sandy soil. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted at Balouza Research Station of the Desert Research Center (DRC) in North Sinai to study the effect of application of compost, phosphorus, and silicon on wheat (Triticum austivum L.) productivity under sandy soil conditions in two successive winter seasons of 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. The compost treatments were 25 and 50 ton ha-1. The P fertilization was at three rate follows: (i) The first rate was (P1) that implied the application of the full dose of superphosphate requirement for wheat cultivation (840kg, 6.8% P) applied at a rate of 60kg/P ha-1as soil application. (ii) the second rate of superphosphate was P2(420kg ha-1 soil application+420kg/ha-1foliar application applied at a rate of 30kgP ha-1as soil application +30 kgPha-1as foliar application and the third rate of superphosphate wasP3(630kgha-1as soil application+ 210kgha-1as foliar application)applied at a rate of45kgP ha-1 as soil application +15 kg P/ ha-1as foliar application. The silicon treatments were 0, 500, and 1000 mg Si L-1. The design of the experiment was a factorial split, split with three factors in complete randomized block design. The experimental layout consist of 2 compost rates x 3 P rates x 3 Si rates x 3 replicates = 54 plots. The soil application of superphosphate fertilizer was done along with the application of compost during the soil preparation, while the foliar application was done by spraying wheat plants with the supernatant of superphosphate fertilizer in 5 batches during the growth stages of the crop. The silicon treatments were 0, 500, and 1000 mg /L-1 Si were sprayed at 4 batches. The obtained r
