Abstract In this report, we discuss the design and implementation of WirelessHART system as wireless networked control system. Nowdays, industrial and automation systems are moving to become more relying on wireless systems as having many advantages including ability to eliminate unnecessary wiring and reducing complexity of design of sensor placement. Of course industrial wireless systems have its disadvantages too including higher probability of interference exposure which may cause data loss. WirelessHART is considered as the first wireless industrial system approved by International Electro-technical commission (IEC) making it first wireless international standard as IEC 62591 and it can avoid disadvantages of wireless industrial problems. WirelessHART system also provides low cost and relatively high speed wireless connection with addition to provide secure communication system. Also, WirelessHART provides a compatibility with wired HART system that regard as most widespread wired industrial communication system. Compatibility with wired HART system leads to ease of application in industrial and automation plants. In this report, we first discuss the structure of WirelessHART system and interpret each layer including network layer, data link layer and physical layer. We then discuss the implementation of WirelessHART system as design each element in the system individually. In addition, interpreting the main mission of each node and how to communication with other nodes. Finally, we evaluate the performance of implementation of WirelessHART system to show the performance and the schedule of each node. Simulator used in the implementation is TrueTime network simulator, which can be implemented in Matlab Simulink making it easy to handle. Also, TrueTime simulator is considered as famous simulator that is used in implementation of real time wireless and wired communication system like Zigbee and Bluetooth. Our simulation result demonstrate that output controlled value from PID controller in WirelessHART system succeeded to put the measured value from sensor node tracks the generated reference value. Also, simulation shows that WirelessHART system handles correctly the communication between all nodes through the closed control loop starting with sensor node and ending with the actuator. In addition, scheduling of time slots for each node in WirelessHART system successes to be done as planned. |
