Abstract
Among all nations of the world, no country could compete with Egypt in its unique post and wonderful standard which it has reached with distinction in all the different sorts and branches of arts, especially that industry which is attached to metal-fabrication and meting of minerals of all kinds as gold, silver, copper, and bronze. This Thesis dealt with royal pieces made of metal in the Greco-Roman period, especially in Egypt. This Thesis will be divided into an introduction four chapters introducing the importance of metals and art in the Greco-Roman period, especially in Egypt. Chapter one “Royal metal work on the Statues, Heads and Statuettes”, deals with the characteristics of Classical and Hellenistic Art and the characteristics features of Greek sculpture and deals with materials, meth, ods and tools used in sculpture also talks about the sculptors and then giving examples of royal statues, heads and statuettes at museums inside and outside Egypt. Chapter two “Royal metal work on the Coins”, deals with the origin, coin denominations and minting operation, types of coins, the creation of coins and dating of coins and coins and thriving examples of royal coins at museums inside and outside Egypt. Chapter three “Royal metal work on Jewellery”, deals with materials, types, and the form of jewellery, it deals with goldsmiths, techniques, tools and, the functions of Greek jewellery and then gives examples of royal jewellery at museums inside and outside Egypt. Chapter four “Analytical study”, is divided into four tables, the first related to animals and birds, the second about Ptolemaic kings, queens and Roman emperors, the third d to gods and goddesses and the fourth table about plants and shapes. Conclusion: Finally the researcher will discuss the most important results of the study.
