Abstract
Abstract
This study sheds light on Toni Morrison’s novels and their translations and the challenges the translators usually face while translating Toni Morrison into Arabic, with special reference to the three novels of The Bluest Eye, Beloved, and Paradise and their translations, “أكثر العيون زرقة” by Kamel Yusif Hussein, “محبوبة” by Amin Al-Ayouti and “فردوس” by Ali Basha respectively. The study aims at investigating how linguistic, cultural and literary facets of translation provide major challenges in communicating the world of Morrison from English into Arabic. It aims to identify and explore the different challenges translators encounter when translating Morrison and the various translation strategies they have adopted, or evaded while attempting to render Morrison’s rich and challenging novels. It focuses on two main challenges: transferring narrative techniques and rendering cultural aspects prevalent in her novels with reference to translation theories, mainly foreignization and domestication, narration and translation theories and theories of translating cultural references.

تلقي الدراسة الضوء على أهم التحديات التي واجهت المترجمون العرب عند ترجمة روايات توني موريسون بالإشارة إلى روايات The Bluest Eye ترجمها كامل يوسف حسين إلى ”أكثر العيون زرقة”؛ و Beloved ترجمها أمين العيوطي إلى ”محبوبة”؛ و Paradise ترجمها علي باشا إلى ”فردوس”. وتناقشالدراسة طرق إيجاد حلول لهذه التحديات ليجدوا نصوص تعرض الخصوصيات الثقافية للأفارقة الأمريكيين و في نفس الوقت تكون نصوصا شيقة للقراءة من قبل القراء العرب.
تعرض الدراسة أهمية توني موريسون ككاتبة أفريقية أمريكية التي حددت وجهتها في عرض تراث وثقافة ومعاناة مجتمعها ضمن الدائرة الأمريكية الأوسع . وتناقش أهمية ترجمة توني موريسون إلى العربية حيث تعتبر رواياتها مصدرا للتبادل الثقافي لذا اتجه المترجمون العرب إلى ترجمة كل أعمالها الروائية. و تركز الدراسة على نظريات التقريب و التغريب ، و بالإشارة إلى النظريات المتعلقة بترجمة نظريات بنية السرد و تقنياتها ؛ و تعريف الإشارات الثقافية و عرض اهم الاستراتيجيات لنقل هذه الإشارات الثقافية إلى العربية .
