Abstract

Condom use, which is one of the most cost effective protective
measures against unintended pregnancy and STI/HIV.
Until recently, little research or attention has focused on effect
of condom on sexual interest and function in women. As a result, our
knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the
sexual response and the pathophysiology of sexual dysfunction related
to condom use is limited.
The study was conducted on 152 healthy, sexually active male
and female in a stable marital relationship all of them experienced
male condoms used by their partners.
In this study, we used a self-report questionnaire translated into
Arabic. Questionnaire consisted of 29 aspects that covered relations
between condom and its effect on FSF and acceptability of both
partners to this method.
The results of this study showed that:
Most of the participants had an educational level of a University
degree.
Contraception was the most reported cause of condom use by
most participants with condom use, desire level prior to sexual
relationship was moderate in 40 % of participants while 44 % of
participants experienced arousal in less than half the coital encounters.
About 62% of the respondents had moderate degree of
lubrication while only 34 % kept lubrication during the whole coitus
on using condom. Condom had a negative effect on orgasm frequency
in about 34 % of respondents who reach orgasm less than half time .
Summary
64
Slipped condom was the most common complaint of wives in
our study while unsatisfactory sex was the main complaint of
husbands.
About 43% of participants‘ husbands were obliged to use
condom because no other safe medical contraceptive method was
available.
Most of participants` husbands wanted to change the condom to
a contraceptive method used by women because of unsatisfactory sex.
Most participants thought that their life would be better without
condom use.
