Abstract One of the major factors affecting nephrogenesis in utero is intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Few studies showed reduced weight of the fetal kidney in IUGR fetuses as compared to normally grown fetuses. Reduced blood flow to the kidneys due to fetal hypoxemia in IUGR foetus leads to increased pulsatility index which is likely to be responsible for impaired nephrogenesis and decreased kidney volume |
